Kochi: 9 years ago, in a moment at Mumbai’s Virar Railway Station, fate darkened the life of Niranjan Jadhav. While crossing the track, the speeding train snatched both the legs of that 54 year old man. But Niranjan was determined that his life would not end on that blood-soaked railway track. Today, he has become a great example of determination and struggle. Even though the railway track took away both his legs, Niranjan is doing wonders with a wheelchair on the athletic track. When Niranjan Jadhav moved fast on a wheelchair on the track of G-Tech Marathon held at Infopark today, everyone clapped for him with all their heart. Niranjan participated in the 21.1 kilometer half marathon along with the young stars in the state’s biggest anti-drug marathon. Niranjan is not just an athlete but also a living example of never-say-die spirit. A warrior who once again proved that physical inefficiencies can overcome the strength of the mind. Niranjan, who had competed on a wheelchair in many states of India, came to the track of Kerala for the first time. Niranjan told Asianet News Online that the Kerala experience was wonderful.

Niranjan took part in the 21.1 kilometer half marathon in the state’s biggest anti-drug marathon. Competing against perfectly healthy young stars in wheelchairs, he crossed the finishing line in just 2 hours and 43 minutes. Thousands of sports lovers waiting for him at the finishing point stood up and welcomed the warrior with applause. He told Asianet News Online that it was unacceptable for him to confine his life to hospital rooms after the accident. Niranjan, who has completed 44 long distance marathons so far, also expressed his desire to hit the track in Kerala again. He also said that the experience of Kerala is unforgettable.
