Delhi Budget 2026 Highlights: A provision of Rs 1.03 lakh crore has been made in Delhi Budget 2026-27. Free bicycles to class 9 daughters, laptops to meritorious class 10 students, Rs 50 crore for women safety and Rs 12,645 crore for the health sector have been allocated.
Delhi government has presented a budget of Rs 1,03,700 crore for the financial year 2026-27. In this budget, along with development works, special focus has been placed on issues like education, health, women’s safety and pollution.
While presenting the budget, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta made many announcements which are directly related to students, women and common citizens. The special thing is that this time schemes related to education and women empowerment have been given a special place in the budget.
The government has announced to provide free bicycles to about 1.30 lakh girl students of class 9 studying in government schools of Delhi. For this, a provision of Rs 90 crore has been made in the budget. Apart from this, a scheme to provide laptops to meritorious students of class 10th will also be started.

Free bicycles for 9th class girls
Delhi government says that the objective of this scheme is to make the education of girl students easier and improve their access to school. According to the government, about 1.30 lakh girls studying in class 9 will be given bicycles. A budget of Rs 90 crore has been fixed for this. It is believed that this will provide convenience to the girl students in commuting to school and will also encourage them to continue their studies.
Meritorious 10th class students will get laptop
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has made another important announcement for the students. A scheme to provide laptops to meritorious students of class 10th has been included in the budget. The government has made a provision of Rs 10 crore for this scheme. The government believes that in the digital era, laptops will help a lot in the studies and skill development of students.
Special fund of Rs 50 crore for women safety
Delhi government has given priority to women’s safety in the budget. A special fund of Rs 50 crore has been created for this. The government will identify such places in the city where there is excessive darkness or security problems. New and modern lights will be installed at these places. Along with this, smart sensors and monitoring system will also be strengthened, so that women can get a safe environment even at night.
Benefits of Ayushman scheme to transgender community
The Chief Minister said that the Delhi government will spend Rs 202 crore to bring the transgender community under the ambit of Ayushman Bharat health scheme. Apart from this, a provision of Rs 1,500 crore has been made to build 750 new Ayushman Arogya Mandirs in Delhi. The government says that this will strengthen primary health services in the city.
The work of incomplete hospitals will be completed
The Chief Minister also said that seven ICU hospitals, which remained incomplete during the previous government, will now be completed. A budget of Rs 150 crore has been kept to complete the construction of these hospitals.
Rs 12,645 crore for health sector
A total provision of Rs 12,645 crore has been made for health services in the Delhi budget. The government claims that this amount will be used to expand hospital facilities and improve health services.
610 crores to deal with waterlogging
Waterlogging becomes a major problem every year during monsoon in Delhi. In view of this, the government has allocated Rs 610 crore to the Irrigation Department. The government says that with this amount the drains and drainage system will be strengthened so that people can get relief during the rainy season.
Rs 9,000 crore to Delhi Jal Board
Delhi Jal Board will be given Rs 9,000 crore to improve water supply and water projects. Apart from this, a budget of Rs 3,942 crore has been kept for the electricity department to strengthen the power system.
Emphasis also on roads and infrastructure
The Delhi government has also made several announcements to improve roads and improve the city’s infrastructure. Rs 1,000 crore will be given to MCD for road improvements. Rs 1,352 crore has been allocated to PWD for dust-free roads. Apart from this, a provision of Rs 454 crore has been made for the construction of roads along the Najafgarh drain and Rs 350 crore for the MLA Local Area Development Scheme.
Focus on youth, women and health
Overall, the Delhi government’s budget for 2026-27 seems to focus on education, health, women’s safety and basic amenities. While efforts have been made to incentivize students through schemes like cycles and laptops, large sums have also been allocated for women safety, health services and strengthening infrastructure.
