IIM Nagpur Students Midterm Exam Ban New: A major step has been taken regarding discipline in IIM Nagpur (Indian Institute of Management Nagpur). Around 70-75 MBA students were barred from appearing for mid-term exams after they attended a pool party organized at the resort without permission. This party was organized by the student clubs on 14th February as a farewell to the second year batch. According to the institute, some first year and second year students went out of the campus at night, stayed at the resort and returned the next morning. When he returned, he was stopped at the main gate itself.
Students received punishment information through email
On Monday night, the administration sent a mail to the first year students informing them that they will not be allowed to appear in the mid-term examinations starting from February 24. As soon as this news was received, there was increased commotion in the campus. On the other hand, the final examination of second year students was to start from today i.e. 25th February.

Silent demonstration of 400 students of IIM Nagpur
Around 400 students from both the batches staged a peaceful protest on the campus against the action. Students also warned of boycotting the examination. However, the protest was later called off after the administration’s clarification. The institute clarified that the action will be applicable only to those first year students who attended the program without permission. No action will be taken against those students who had already taken permission. Besides, it has also been said that the mid-term examinations of the detained students will be conducted later.
Calls only to parents of girl students, questions raised
Another aspect came to light in this whole matter. The parents of the resort-going girl students were informed by the institute that hostel rules were violated and the girl students stayed out overnight. On this, the students raised the question that why the information was given only to the houses of the girl students and why the parents of the students were not informed? The discussion on this issue intensified in the campus.

What do the rules of IIM Nagpur campus say?
As per the rules of the institute, it is mandatory for all MBA students to live on campus. It is not allowed to go out after 10 pm or remain absent without official notice. It has been told that some students had made entries in the movement register of going home, but they attended the resort program. The administration has sought No Objection Certificate (NOC) from parents and has also warned of temporary suspension in some cases.

The institute says that the students were fully aware of the rules, hence strict action was necessary to maintain discipline. However, the administration also assured that care will be taken to ensure that there is no long-term impact on the future of the students.
