NHAI action at Toll Plaza in Meerut
What happened on the night of 17 August 2025 at the roasted toll plaza at Meerut-Karnal Highway (NH-709A), not only shook the local people but also ran a wave of anger on social media. Army soldiers Kapil Singh (Kawad), who were going to Srinagar to join duty, fell victim to the barbarity of toll personnel.
Kapil was going towards Delhi Airport with his cousin. Seeing the long queue and lack of time on the toll plaza, he requested the toll staff to allow the car to be carried forward, but the matter deteriorated so much that the toll workers attacked the jawan. He was not only beaten, but also tied to the pole and attacked with sticks. An employee tried to lift the brick. The video of this entire incident became increasingly viral on social media, after which the pressure of action increased on the police and administration. Now NHAI has taken action on the toll company in this matter.
Nhai showed strictness
Actually, this incident has been taken very seriously by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). NHAI has imposed a huge fine of ₹ 20 lakh on toll -charged company Dharm Singh & Co.. Along with this, the process of ending the contract against the company and stopping from participating in any toll project bid has been started. A statement issued by NHAI said that the company failed to control its staff and maintain discipline, which is clearly a violation of contract conditions. The authority also clarified that the safety and convenience of the passengers is the highest priority and such behavior will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
6 accused arrested, search from CCTV continues
As soon as the video surfaced, resentment spread among the local people. There was a demonstration at the toll plaza and there were reports of some sabotage. The Meerut police immediately arrested 4 to 6 people and started an attempt to identify the remaining accused with the help of CCTV footage. The police have registered an FIR in this case and investigation is on. The administration has assured that strict action will be taken against the culprits.
