Stree 2: Madhubanti Bagchi Reveals She Was ‘Not Happy’ With Aaj Ki Raat’s Initial Version – Here’s Why | EXCL

Stree 2 song Aaj Ki Raat was one of the chartbuster tracks of 2024. Picturised on Tamannaah Bhatia, the track instantly went viral on social media. As of today, this dance number has over a billion views on YouTube. However, when Madhubanti Bagchi was working on the song, the singer wasn’t happy with the way she had initially recorded it. In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Madhubanti revealed how Aaj Ki Raat eventually sounded the way it needed to be. The singer admitted that it took her a while to get the song right.

While discussing her Stree 2 song with us, Madhubanti said, “I think Aaj Ki Raat was that one song where I was personally not very happy with the performance, that was the way I had recorded the song. So, (it was) the initial version because I had gone to Sachin-Jigar’s studio, and I recorded one take.”

What happened next? Sachin-Jigar sent the recording back to Madhubanti so that she could hear and add something if she wanted to. “I heard it back, and I was like I can definitely do a little more on this. It didn’t seem enough, or it didn’t seem the right way to have sung it. I gave it 2-3 more shots, once in my own studio. And then I went to Sachin-Jigar’s studio again to try it out,” she added.

After giving it a few more shots, Madhubanti finally felt that she reached the position where she should have for Aaj Ki Raat. “It took me a while to get there. Because I felt that I was not really reaching the kind of way the song needed to sound, which is a mix of sensuous and serious. I was not being able to reach that, but eventually I did.” For the unversed, this track was crooned by Madhubanti, Sachin-Jigar, and Divya Kumar. On the other hand, Amitabh Bhattacharya penned the lyrics.

Helmed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 returned with its original star cast, Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee, and Aparshakti Khurana. The horror comedy worked well at the ticket window. Produced by Maddock Films, the movie made a whopping Rs 857.15 crore at the worldwide box office. After Stree 2′s success, the third installment is confirmed to be made. However, there’s no further development on Stree 3.
