Concerns are also being raised about LPG supply in India amid increasing tension in the Strait of Hormuz and impact on shipping activities. The government has acknowledged that LPG remains an important issue at present because of its widespread use in domestic kitchens. However, officials say that continuous steps are being taken to maintain gas supply in the country and the refineries are working at full capacity. The government says that its priority is to ensure regular supply of gas to the kitchens of 33 crore families. Also, an appeal has been made to the people not to pay attention to rumors and not to panic and make additional booking of gas cylinders.
