Stock Market today: Sensex and Nifty gain in early trade

Mumbai: The BSE Sensex gained 78.48 points to 78,067.16 in early trade on Friday. The NSE Nifty appreciated 9.40 points to 24,206.15.

IT services major WIPRO announced a Rs 15000 crore share buyback at Rs 250 per share, offering a 19% premium over the stocks last closing price.

WTI crude futures slipped toward 93 per barrel on Friday, giving back gains from the previous session as optimism over a potential US-Iran agreement weighed on prices. President Donald Trump stated that Tehran had accepted terms including abandoning nuclear ambitions, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and supplying free oil, though Iranian confirmation is pending. A 10-day ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon was also confirmed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. However, the Strait of Hormuz remains effectively closed under a dual blockade, sustaining supply concerns. IMF’s Fatih Birol warned that restoring disrupted oil and gas output could take up to two years.
