New Delhi: On November 5, 2025, Wednesday, the Indian stock markets will be closed for Gurpurab (Prakash Parv Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Jayanti). Both National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) will observe a holiday tomorrow. Guru Nanak Jayanti, also known as Prakash Parv, is celebrated across the country as the birth anniversary of Sikhism’s first Guru Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji. This year this festival will be held on 5th November, due to which there will be no trading in the equity and equity derivative segments on Wednesday.
The pre-open session in the Indian stock market starts at 9:00 AM and regular trading runs from 9:15 AM to 3:30 AM, but on the day of Gurpurab, all these segments of equity, equity derivatives and securities lending-borrowing will be completely non-operational.
Multi Commodity Market (MCX)
On the day of Gurpurab, the morning session at the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) will be closed, but the evening session will normally be open from 5:00pm to night.
According to the trading holiday calendar, there is only one market holiday in November 2025, which is Gurpurab. After this, the next big holiday will be on Christmas (25th December 2025, Thursday), when both NSE and BSE will remain closed.
Investors should keep in mind that all orders placed on Wednesday will be carry forward on the next trading day. At the same time, those who are active in the commodity segment must check the updated trading times of MCX during the evening session. Regular trading in the market will resume from Thursday, 6 November 2025 at normal time.
