The auction of players for the new season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) is to be held on Thursday 27 November. This time a mega auction is going to be held in WPL, in which the fate of many big players will also be decided. But just a few hours before the start of the auction, a star player himself has decided his fate. This Australian all-rounder has suddenly withdrawn his name from the WPL Mega Auction. This player is left-arm spin all-rounder Jess Jonason, who was a part of Delhi Capitals till last season.
The auction for the WPL 2026 season is to be held in New Delhi on Thursday from 3:30 pm. This time many big players are also entering the auction because the 3-year cycle of the league has been completed and in such a situation, before the mega auction this time, each franchise had the option to retain only a maximum of 5 players. In such a situation, many famous and strong performing names have also had to go through the auction and Jonason is also among them, who was released by Delhi Capitals.
Jonason withdrew his name for this reason
Jonason had put his name in the auction for the new season but the news of his being out of the auction came on 27th November itself. According to reports, 33-year-old Australian all-rounder Jess Jonason has taken this decision due to injury. Jonason has suffered a shoulder injury and has been trying to recover from it for some time and currently does not seem to be completely fit. This is why he withdrew his name.
Jonason’s performance in WPL
According to the report of ESPN Cricinfo, this information was given to all the franchises by the WPL organizers on Wednesday 26 November. Jonason, who played 24 matches in 3 seasons of WPL, had kept her base price at Rs 50 lakh this time. She is one of the best all-rounders in the history of this league. Along with taking 33 wickets, he has also scored 295 runs in 24 matches. Not only this, she has also received the Player of the Match award 5 times, which is the most after Mumbai Indians captain Harmanpreet Kaur (7).
