There was a stampede during the Kavad Yatra at Kubreshwar Dham in Sehore. Two women died and five devotees were injured in the accident. The huge crowd and the shock made the situation frightening. The administration has started an investigation.
Kubreshwar dham stampede: The famous Kubareshwar Dham located in Sehore district of Madhya Pradesh once again saw a painful scene. During the Kavad Yatra, the stampede took the life of two women and five devotees were seriously injured. The accident happened when a large number of devotees reached Kubreshwar Dham on the second Monday of Sawan. Suddenly there was chaos in the crowd and there was a situation of shock, in which two women died on the spot.
Kavad Yatra or chaos havoc?
Thousands of devotees gather with devotion in the Kavad Yatra, but is the administration ready every time? The incident raises many questions before the proposed grand Kandar Yatra under the leadership of Pandit Pradeep Mishra on 6 August. Diversion and parking plan was to be implemented from 12 o’clock at night, but the system could not start in time. SP Deepak Shukla also admitted that traffic and mob control plan could not be implemented on time.

Who is being repeated repeatedly responsible for history?
Significantly, the incidents of stampede in Kubreshwar Dham are not new. In February 2023, two people died due to stampede at the Rudraksha distribution program. Despite this, there is no improvement in the arrangements. According to the administration, arrangements were made for 4 thousand people, but the crowd of thousands became uncontrolled. Lowering the place caused a stampede and the arrangements were shattered.
Was there missing security measures?
This time the administration has spoken about the deployment of traffic and medical staff, but the accident exposed these claims. The devotees themselves have blamed the negligence of the administration as responsible for the accident. Deputy Collector Vrindavan Singh said that the responsibility was given to SDM Tanay Verma, but the information about how many force and medical teams were deployed at the time of the accident could not be clearly found.

Appeal of devotees: “We need security, not just organizing”
People present at the scene said that as soon as the stampede started, no one was seen to control. Now devotees are demanding that in such events, not only religious faith, but also security arrangements are necessary. The Kubreshwar Dham accident again warns that along with reverence, arrangements are also needed. Not only traffic plan or medical team deployment, but only crowd control and proactive management can prevent such accidents.
