Stalin’s son-in-law Sabareesan enters active politics, takes dig at Vijay over two-seat contest

Chennai: With just weeks remaining for the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, DMK chief M.K. Stalin’s son-in-law, V. Sabareesan, has made a direct entry into active politics, bringing a glaring spotlight on the party’s family-centric power structure. Sabareesan launched a sharp attack on actor-turned-politician Vijay, questioning his decision to contest from two constituencies.

Sabareesan’s political debut

Speaking at a meeting in the Villivakkam constituency, where DMK candidate Karthik Mohan is contesting, Sabareesan stated, “Karthik, who is contesting from the Villivakkam constituency, is my friend. Consider me—personally—as the candidate here. If you ensure his victory, he will fulfill every single requirement and need of your constituency. I stand as the guarantor for this promise.”

Minister Sekarbabu, Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s daughter Senthamarai, and her husband Sabareesan participated in this meeting held with representatives of welfare associations within the Villivakkam constituency.

Dig at Vijay’s two-seat strategy

Responding to media questions, Sabareesan remarked, “Contesting in two constituencies demonstrates that leader’s lack of self-confidence.” He further claimed that TVK’s participation in the Assembly elections will not affect DMK’s victory in any way. “There is no significant opposition in Tamil Nadu. TVK’s participation will not affect DMK’s victory. Vijay contesting from two seats only reflects his confidence,” he said.

Confident of DMK’s absolute majority

Sabareesan expressed confidence that the DMK alliance would secure a landslide victory. “We have successfully implemented countless schemes. Consequently, we have entered the electoral arena with immense confidence. Across Tamil Nadu, public support for the DMK alliance is exceptional. A DMK government will undoubtedly be formed once again. We are confident that the DMK will form the government with an absolute majority—100 percent. Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam will not have any impact whatsoever in this election.”

Sabareesan’s entry into the direct political arena during this election has created quite a stir, bringing additional attention to the DMK’s campaign in the Villivakkam constituency.
