New Delhi: Sri Lanka cricket named the squads on Friday that will be touring Pakistan for a three-match ODI series and the following T20I tri-series which also features Zimbabwe. The Zimbabwe team was added to the tri-series after Afghanistan pulled out of the tour as a result of the Pakistani airstrikes in their territory which killed three emerging cricketers.
Meanwhile, the ODI series starts on November 11 in Rawalpindi while the tri-series starts on November 17 at the same venue. Fast bowler Dilshan Madhushanka is the player to miss out of the ODI squad after he failed to recover from a knee-injury. Sri Lanka cricket were quick to name a replacement for him in form of Eshan Malinga.
Other than Madhushanka, Nuwanidu Fernando, Milan Priyanath Rathnayake, Nishan Madushka and Dunith Wellalage are the others to miss out with Lahiru Udara, Kamil Mishara, Wanindu Hasaranga and Pramod Madushan are taking their place for the 50-over games.
On the other hand, premium player Matheesha Pathirana has missed out on the T20 squad due to a an upper respiratory tract infection. He was expected to be fit in time but slackness in getting ready for the series prevented his participation. In his place, Asitha Fernando has been included in the team.
SL make changes to T20I squad
The Sri Lankan team has also made four other changes to the T20I squad that underperformed and made a group-stage exit at the Asia Cup 2025. Nuwanidu Fernando, Dunith Wellalage, Chamika Karunaratne and Binura Fernando have made for Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Janith Liyanage, Dushan Hemantha and Eshan Malinga.
