Sri Lanka Cricket Takes Disciplinary Action After Tense India A vs Sri Lanka A Match

Cricket (SLC) has initiated disciplinary measures against players involved in a heated encounter during the tri-series match between India ‘A’ and Sri Lanka ‘A’ in Dambulla. According to reports, match referee Pradeep Jayaprakash took action following the controversial game.

In this match, held at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium, both teams scored 265 runs, leading to a Super Over where Sri Lanka ‘A’ emerged victorious. However, post-match, a heated argument erupted between India’s young batsman Vaibhav Suryaanshi and Sri Lanka ‘A’s Vishan Halambage, escalating to physical altercations.

As reported by Cricbuzz, the sanctions imposed by former Sri Lankan fast bowler and match referee Jayaprakash primarily involve Vishan Halambage.

Additionally, Sri Lanka ‘A’ wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella has also been fined for attempting to mediate the dispute between Halambage and Suryaanshi. However, the fine imposed on Dickwella was for a separate rule violation, the specifics of which remain unclear. According to Cricbuzz, it may be related to excessive appealing. It is currently unconfirmed whether any action has been   Vaibhav Suryaanshi.

No official hearing has been conducted regarding this incident. Sources from Sri Lanka ‘A’ informed Cricbuzz that they believe match referee Jayaprakash based his fines solely on the reports from the on-field umpires.
