Sree Vishnu’s Comrade Kalyan has opened better than expected, with Hyderabad emerging as a key market for the film.
Sree Vishnu had suffered two consecutive flops earlier this year with Mrutyuunjay and Vishnu Vinyasam, raising doubts over his ability to generate strong openings for his latest release.
Surprisingly, Comrade Kalyan has managed to attract audiences. Although the film started on a slow note on its opening day, collections picked up during the evening shows, with Hyderabad contributing a significant share of the revenue.
The film is also expected to post decent numbers in Andhra Pradesh on its first day. However, the real test will be whether it can sustain the momentum over the weekend and emerge as a box-office winner.
Reviews have been largely mixed, but the film’s entertainment quotient appears to be working in its favour despite the old-school style of comedy.
The comedy portions featuring Sree Vishnu and Satya are being seen as one of the film’s major strengths and could help it draw family audiences over the weekend.
