Spider-Man Euphoria Hangs Over Varun Tej’s Korean Kanakaraju

Major Hollywood films are enjoying a dream run at the Indian box office. After a long gap, domestic films are struggling to match the craze surrounding big-ticket Hollywood releases.

Last month, Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey dominated the Indian box office across the country.

Now, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is setting the box office on fire. The film has reportedly grossed a whopping Rs 308 crore in its first four days in India, emerging as a massive blockbuster.

Advance bookings remain strong throughout the week, indicating that its momentum is far from over.

Trade analysts expect collections to witness another surge during the second weekend, not only in metropolitan cities but also in Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets such as Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Tirupati, Rajahmundry, Kakinada and Visakhapatnam.

The Gen Z audience has embraced the film wholeheartedly, with exceptional collections being reported from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. This has created a challenging situation for Varun Tej’s Korean Kanakaraju, which is set to hit theatres on August 7.

Although the film has generated positive buzz with its trailer and promotional campaign, it faces the uphill task of competing with the ongoing Spider-Man phenomenon. The challenge is even greater considering Varun Tej’s recent string of box-office disappointments.

Tom Holland has emerged as one of the biggest crowd-pullers among younger audiences. His popularity grew further after his appearance in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, making Spider-Man: Brand New Day an even stronger force at the box office.
