In the Jhansi 36th Regional Sports Closing Ceremony, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave the mantra of self-reliance to the players. He announced the construction of a mini stadium and said that sports have now become a medium of self-reliance and nation building.
Jhansi, 9 October. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave the message of self-reliance and success to the players of the state from the historical land of Jhansi. He said that “A healthy body is the basis of religion and nation building.”
The Chief Minister, who arrived at the 36th Regional Sports Festival organized by Vidya Bharti Eastern Uttar Pradesh, honored the players and announced the construction of a mini stadium at Bhani Devi Goyal Saraswati Vidya Mandir Inter College. He said that today sports have become not only entertainment but also a powerful medium to enhance life.
CM Yogi’s message from the land of Rani Laxmibai
The Chief Minister said that it is a matter of pride for him to participate in this event of Vidya Bharti on the land of bravery and valor of Rani Laxmibai of Jhansi. He said that Vidya Bharati is a leading institution that awakens respect for Indian culture, tradition and nationalism. This institution was established by Nanaji Deshmukh in Gorakhpur in 1952 and today is spreading Indian values through more than 25,000 education-training centres. While honoring Devendra Singh, the first student of Vidya Bharti, the Chief Minister said that this institution has been successful in keeping the national ideals alive without government support.
Bundeli Rai dance enthralled the audience
Cultural color was also seen in the ceremony. The presentation of Bundeli Rai dance enthralled the people present. The Chief Minister honored Sheelu Yadav, Aadesh Singh, Shahenshah, Basant Kumar Gola and Sandhya Rajput who excelled in sports. In the event, the discipline trophy went to the Goraksh province rural team, while the overall championship trophy went to the Kashi province urban team.
Appreciation of Vidya Bharti’s achievements
CM Yogi said that Vidya Bharti is today the leading force strengthening the tradition and culture of India. He told that after independence, when Indian values were being marginalized, Vidya Bharati created a national model of education from villages to cities and forest areas. This organization is doing important work of nation building without government support.
Sports University built in Meerut- CM Yogi
The Chief Minister said that Rani Lakshmibai inspired the nation by giving the message of “My Jhansi will not be a slave” in the freedom struggle of 1857. Referring to Major Dhyan Chand, he said that he won the Olympic gold medal for India twice. In his memory, the Government of India has given Khel Ratna Award and the State Government has established a Sports University in Meerut.
Vidya Bharti’s players shine at national and international level
The Chief Minister said that the players of Vidya Bharti have brought glory to the country on big platforms like Commonwealth, Asian Games, Olympics and Paralympics.
Major Achievements of Vidya Bharti:
- Recognized by School Games Federation of India in 2006
- Fair Play Award in 2010
- Swachhta Trophy in 2016, Medal Upgradation Award in 2018
- In 2019-20, players won 367 medals (80 gold, 86 silver, 201 bronze) and secured sixth position at the national level.
The Chief Minister also praised players like Olympians Sudha Singh, Nishad Kumar, Shaili Singh and Aadesh Singh.
Uttar Pradesh is now emerging with a new identity – CM Yogi
CM Yogi said that before 2017, Uttar Pradesh was called a sick state, but in the last 8.5 years it has become the second largest economy of the country. He said, ‘Now when someone says that he is from UP, there is a glow of pride on the person’s face.’ He described it as a symbol of the ‘new Uttar Pradesh’, which is leading in both its culture and development.
Government schemes for promotion of sports
The Chief Minister said that the state government is building sports grounds in every village, mini stadiums in every development block, stadiums in every district and open gyms in cities. Khelo India, Fit India and Sansad sports competitions are encouraging the youth. He said that in the last three years, 500 players have been given direct government jobs. In the upcoming recruitment, players will also be appointed to the posts like Deputy SP, Tehsildar, Kanungo and Sports Officer.

- Silver: ₹1.5 crore
- Bronze: ₹75 lakh

- Gold: ₹1.5 crore
- Silver: ₹75 lakh

Mini stadium will be built in Bhani Devi Goyal Saraswati Vidya Mandir
Praising the courtyard of Bhani Devi Goyal Saraswati Vidya Mandir, the Chief Minister said that a mini stadium will be built here, so that future sports events can be organized in a better way. He praised the courage and discipline of the 450 participants from 49 districts and said that “it is the spirit of the player rising above victory and defeat that brings him Vijayashree.”
