According to initial reports, at least 20 people have died in this accident, including 15 women. A pregnant woman has also died. 20 bodies sent to hospital, identification underway
According to the police, the bodies of all the deceased have been sent to Kramat Jati Police Hospital for identification. Officials said the smoke spread so fast in the building that many people were unable to come out. After the fire, security forces, fire brigade and medical teams immediately reached the spot. The entire area was evacuated and people were kept away from the danger zone.

According to local media, the fire broke out on the first floor of the building. Here a battery caught fire, which spread to the entire floor within no time. Central Jakarta police chief Susatyo Purnomo Kondro said that crews were initially successful in extinguishing the fire, but the situation worsened when the battery fire broke out again.
