Spain Just Broke a 23-YO Cricket World Record Less Than a Month After Winning FIFA WC

On July 19, Spain conquered Argentina to win the  title. It was their 2nd crown and 1st in 16 years as won his battle vs idol  . Now, less than a month later, the country has broken a world record.

Except the sport is different. It’s in cricket.

Breaking a 23-Year-Old World Record

Yes, that’s right. The Spanish cricket team has set the record for the most consecutive international wins in men’s cricket. The previous record belonged to Australia in 2003 when they won 20 games on the trot.

Spain’s Unbeaten Run

Spain’s winning streak began against the Isle of Man in 2023. They beat them four times in two days in February of that year. In April 2024, Spain beat Jersey in two games played on April 14. They then crushed Croatia 5-0 in August 2024 before wins vs Cyprus, Czech Republic, Greece and Finland. Spain again beat Croatia 5-0 December 2025 to draw level with Australia’s 20 consecutive wins. The team broke Australia’s record against Finland. Now their tally is 22 with a win over Isle of Man.

Australia’s Winning Streak

For Australia, their streak began with an ODI win over England in January 2003. They won five more straight games in the series before 11 consecutive wins in the World Cup and then three Tests wins vs West Indies. West Indies broke the streak by winning the 4th Test and setting a world record for the highest chase.

 

 

Double Delight in 2026

The year 2026 has seen a double delight for Spain. They won the FIFA World Cup and now have broken a long-standing cricket world record. Their cricketing journey is still in its infancy, so there are miles to go.
