South Delhi Superstars Secure Final Spot with Thrilling Victory Over Central Delhi Kings

New Delhi, August 26: In a gripping first qualifier of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026, the South Delhi Superstars showcased their prowess by defeating the Central Delhi Kings by 15 runs.

This victory has secured South Delhi a place in the tournament’s final.

Despite the loss, the Central Delhi Kings will have another opportunity to reach the championship match. They will face the winner of the eliminator between Old Delhi 6 and Outer Delhi Warriors on August 28. The final showdown is scheduled for August 30.

Chasing a target of 194 runs, Central Delhi Kings struggled at the start. Siddharth June was dismissed for just 2 runs, while Samarth Singh managed only 8 runs off 7 balls before falling to Ankit Dabbas. Yugal Saini could only contribute 14 runs. Captain Jonty Sidhu scored 23 runs from 20 balls, hitting 3 fours, but the team was in trouble at 71 runs with 5 wickets down.

Keshav Dabbas and Vansh Bedi steadied the innings with a remarkable partnership, adding 82 runs for the sixth wicket off 41 balls. Vansh scored an explosive 52 runs from just 24 balls, including 5 fours and 4 sixes. Keshav also played a vital role, scoring 59 runs from 35 balls with 9 fours and 1 six. However, despite their efforts, the Central Delhi Kings were all out for 178 runs. For South Delhi, Devansh Rawat was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 29 runs in 4 overs, while Vishan Panchal and Ankit Dabbas claimed 2 wickets each.

Batting first after losing the toss, the South Delhi Superstars had a rocky start. Pranav Pant was dismissed without scoring, and Ankur Kaushik managed only 11 runs before falling to Keshav Dabbas. Karan Garg contributed just 9 runs. However, Anmol Sharma and Tejaswi Dahiya formed a solid partnership, adding 49 runs for the fourth wicket. Pranshu Vijayran remained unbeaten with 11 runs off 6 balls, while Vishan Panchal added 7 runs not out. South Delhi finished their innings at 193 runs, losing 7 wickets in the process. For Central Delhi, Gavneesh Khurana was impressive with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 25 runs in 4 overs, while Keshav claimed 2 wickets.
