New Delhi, August 31: The South Delhi Superstars triumphed over the Central Delhi Kings by 7 wickets in the final of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026, held at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday.
Ankit Dabas was named ‘Player of the Match’ for his impressive performance, scoring an unbeaten 62 runs and taking 1 wicket.
After losing the toss, the Central Delhi Kings batted first, managing to score 182 runs while losing 8 wickets. They faced an early setback when Siddharth June was dismissed for just 5 runs on the fifth ball. However, Yugal Saini stabilized the innings alongside Samarth Singh, adding 82 runs for the second wicket off 51 balls. Yugal scored 32 runs from 29 balls, hitting 4 boundaries, while Samarth made 51 runs off 27 balls, including 1 six and 7 fours.
The Kings struggled at 98 runs, having lost 4 wickets. Captain Jonty Sidhu then partnered with Aditya Bhandari to add 44 runs for the fifth wicket in just 25 balls, bringing the score to 142. Jonty scored 36 runs off 19 balls with 5 boundaries before returning to the pavilion. Aditya Bhandari, in a quickfire partnership with Mani Grewal, added 23 runs for the seventh wicket in just 9 balls, pushing the total to a competitive score.
From the bowling side, Divansh Rawat was exceptional, taking 3 wickets for just 17 runs, while Vishan Panchal claimed 2 wickets. Ankit Dabas, Pranshu Vijayran, and Anshuman Hooda each took 1 wicket.
In response, the South Delhi Superstars chased down the target in just 18.2 overs. Pranav Pant and Anmol Sharma set the tone with a 46-run partnership for the first wicket off 31 balls. Pranav was dismissed for 13 runs, but Ankit Dabas then partnered with Anmol Sharma to add 89 runs for the second wicket in 52 balls, steering the team towards victory.
Anmol scored 62 runs off 41 balls, hitting 3 sixes and 6 fours before getting out. Ankit then teamed up with captain Tejaswi Dahiya, adding 40 runs in just 23 balls. The Superstars lost their captain, who scored 33 runs off 18 balls, but Ankit finished the game with an unbeaten 62 runs off 34 balls, including 4 sixes and 5 fours. Ankit Yadav, Keshav Dabas, and Gavanesh Khurana each took 1 wicket for the Kings.
