Sound returns to a young girl’s world: A story of hope and compassion from rajouri

In a heartwarming story of resilience and collective compassion, an 11-year-old girl has rediscovered the joy of sound, thanks to the timely intervention of the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Abhishek Sharma.

From Silence to Sound, and Back Again

Born with hearing impairment, the child’s life had transformed a few years ago when she received a cochlear implant that enabled her to hear, learn and communicate with the world around her. However, fate dealt a harsh blow when the device stopped functioning over the past year, pushing her back into silence.

With her father working as a daily wage labourer and her mother employed as a house help, arranging funds for repairing or replacing the device was beyond the family’s reach.

Swift Intervention by the Administration

Understanding the gravity of the situation, the DC Rajouri stepped in to extend financial support. With additional assistance from Promise Bank and coordinated efforts of the Social Welfare Department, the process of restoring her hearing device was taken up on priority.

The moment her device was successfully activated marked an emotional and joyous occasion for the child and her family. Also, the return of sound brought back not just hearing, but hope, confidence and a renewed connection with life.

A Gesture of Gratitude and Encouragement

In a touching gesture, the girl visited the DC Office Rajouri to personally express her gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner. Moreover, during the interaction, the DC allowed her to sit on his chair—an inspiring moment symbolizing encouragement, care and inclusion.

Acknowledging All Contributors

The child also extended her heartfelt thanks to District Social Welfare Officer Abdul Raheem and all stakeholders who played a role in transforming her life.

This success story stands as a testament to how empathetic governance, community support and timely intervention can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need.
