Excerpts from the interview:
You’ve been celebrating Ganeshotsav for the longest time. How has the celebration evolved over the years? Is the new generation ready to take over already?
Ganeshotsav for me has evolved from grandeur to simplicity and deeper devotion. Now it’s more about togetherness and spiritual connection. The new generation brings fresh ideas like eco-friendly idols and mindful celebrations. I feel confident they are ready to carry this tradition forward beautifully.
How has Ganeshotsav changed you as a person?
Ganeshotsav has grounded me and taught me humility and patience. It gives me time to pause, reflect, and thank Bappa for his blessings. Every year, it renews my faith and strengthens my spiritual side. It has made me more responsible towards people and the environment.
When did you decide to host Ganpati at home? Any spiritual reason behind it?
I brought Ganpati home many years ago, and it was an emotional decision. The peace and positivity Bappa brought into my home were unforgettable. Since then, it has become an inseparable part of our family tradition. Spiritually, I truly believe Bappa removes obstacles and guides us.
Post-visarjan city cleanliness is a matter of debate. What’s your perspective on this?
Ganeshotsav is about devotion and also about caring for our surroundings. I believe eco-friendly visarjan keeps both Bappa’s blessings and our city alive. When we celebrate responsibly, the joy only doubles. A clean city after visarjan is the best tribute we can give to Bappa.
