Sonam Bajwa Reacts To Godday Godday Cha Winning Best Punjabi Film National Award: Gives Me Real High As An Actor

At the 71st National Film Awards announcement press conference, Sonam Bajwa’s Punjabi movie, Godday Godday Cha, was named Best Film in the language.

Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, the film also starred Tania, Gitaj Bindrakhia, and Gurjazz. It released in 2023. Reacting to Godday Godday Cha winning the Best Punjabi Film National Award, Sonam expressed her gratitude.

In a statement, Sonam said, “Winning the National Award for Best Punjabi Film for Godday Godday Cha is a truly humbling and special feeling! The film received so much love at the box office, and now, to be recognised at the national level is a blessing.”

She further added, “I’ll continue being part of both commercial and path-breaking cinema in Punjabi and Hindi. That’s what gives me a real high as an actor- being part of stories that entertain, engage, and are celebrated by both audiences and the nation.”

Sharing posters of the film on Instagram, the actress wrote, “Truly humbling to receive the National Film Award for Best Punjabi Film #GoddayGoddayCha. So grateful for all the people who worked on this film and made this film happen, and for the audiences for appreciating the film and our efforts in it and now receiving the National Film Award is truly a blessing and one of the biggest rewards, thank you.”

 

 

 

 

About Godday Godday Cha

Godday Godday Cha is set in the 1990s. It is about women in Punjab who are barred from attending wedding processions even if they are close to the groom. However, Rani, played by Sonam, aims to put an end to this patriarchal custom.

Godday Godday Cha is Sonam’s second Punjabi film to win a National Award. Her first was Punjab 1984, directed by Anurag Singh, who is also directing her upcoming film, Border 2. The director of Godday Godday Cha, Vijay Kumar Arora, directed the recently released Ajay Devgn-Mrunal Thakur film, Son Of Sardaar 2.
