Shatrughan Sinha’s son and Sonakshi Sinha’s brother Kussh Sinha entered the world of direction with his latest release Nikita Roy.
The movie starred Sonakshi Sinha and Paresh Rawal in key roles. Kussh Sinha’s movie clashed with Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara and Anupam Kher’s Tanvi: The Great at the box office. Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda starrer achieved huge success with fans filling the theatre halls. However, Nikit Roy and Tanvi: The Great couldn’t pull the audience to the big screens.
Kussh Sinha recently opened up about his movie’s failure as he took an indirect jibe at Saiyaara’s success. During an interview with Dainik Bhaskar, Kussh said, “We tried to get more screens, but sometimes, some films are swept along by a wave. At the same time, whichever theatre chains we’ve spoken to, they’ve seen the merit in the film and they’ve held on to it.”
He further added, “Three films were released on the same day, and while everybody knows that the film had a record-breaking performance, the other film was pulled back from theatres and our screens have increased by 40%-50%. Nobody anticipated this wave, and box office results aren’t in our hands.”
Kussh Sinha also congratulated YRF for Saiyaara’s success and responded to the film being accused of copying the Korean movie A Moment To Remember. He expressed his happiness and shared that he was glad to see a romantic movie with newcomers do so well. He also mentioned that ‘it’s up to the makers to clear their name’, but if he ever plans on making a remake, he will officially announce it.
During the conversation, he also mentioned that the stakeholders of Nikita Roy could have promoted the movie more as this was an original story, and nothing was plagiarised from anywhere.
Nikita Roy is a mystery horror movie that takes the audience on a thrilling journey, which compels them to challenge the boundaries between supernatural and logic. Apart from Sonakshi Sinha and Paresh Rawal, the star cast also includes Arjun Rampal and Suhail Nayyar.
