Unfiltered Soha Ali Khan!

Talking about the USP of her podcast, Soha said creating a community where unfiltered, non-judgmental conversations about all the things that pertain to a woman’s wellness and happiness can take place is her main goal. While many may expect celebrity names as guests, Soha revealed she wants real voices. She told Zoom, “It’s not about famous people. It’s about real people. I’m looking for somebody who struggled with weight loss because I have a wonderful doctor and endocrinologist who will talk to us about healthy ways of losing weight. And nobody is willing to share their weight loss journey. So anybody who’s willing to share that is number one. The other one would be someone with experience in heart health, because women are having heart attacks at younger ages now, and they can be fatal, sometimes more than in men.”

Soha revealed a quirky yet healthy start to her day. “I eat raw garlic on an empty stomach as soon as I wake up. Not everyone in the house is a fan of this, but I really feel it works. It’s anti-bacterial, it’s anti-fungal. My mother joked and said, of course you’re not going to get an infection because nobody’s going to come near you!”

When asked about food she eats every day, the actress admitted one treat makes it to her daily meals. “Every day I have some dark chocolate. No day goes by without it. It doesn’t have refined sugar and it’s actually good for you.”

On the subject of cheat meals, Soha shared, “I don’t have cheat meals. I eat the same thing every day. The only thing is succumbing to pressure from my husband when he’s ordered something at a restaurant that’s not on my diet. His love language is sharing food, so he insists I eat it.”

Speaking about her mother Sharmila Tagore’s films, Soha picked one she finds comforting. “Chupke Chupke, because it’s the only film where either she or someone she loves has not died.”

When asked about whose biopic she would like to play, Soha laughed and said, “Oh God, I don’t know. I have no idea. If somebody is interested in funding, it must be someone important. If it’s ready to make, I’m on board.”

Soha also got candid about her marriage with Kunal Kemmu. “I think it is one of the most challenging things to be in a long-term monogamous relationship, and the knowledge that it’s not going to be easy helps you stay in it. If you assume it should be romantic and happy all the time, then at the first sign of conflict you will bounce. Marriages were invented when people lived till they were 40. Now people are living to 100, so it’s really tough.”

Speaking about Kunal’s habits, Soha revealed both the good and the tough sides of her husband. “If there was a poster for hangry, Kunal’s face would be on it. And he will not eat unless the food is amazing. A normal person will say, ‘Okay, I’ll eat some biscuits.’ He’ll wait for a full thali. If it doesn’t come, he just stays hungry.”

But what she loves about him outweighs the rest. “He is funny. A good sense of humor can get you out of many situations. Even when I’m furious with him, he makes me laugh, and that’s why I’m still with him. Number two, he has integrity. He’s consistent, and what he says, he means. It’s simple to understand him, though not always easy.”

On comfort shows and films, Soha explained why she doesn’t rewatch often. “I like murder mysteries and suspense novels. Once you know who the killer is, you can’t see it again and again.”

When asked about her favourite work, Soha chose her book as her proudest project. “I really like my book The Perils of Being Modestly Famous. I wrote it really well and don’t think I could do it again today. If I had to carry one work of mine, it would be that. In terms of films, I feel Tum Mile really took something out of me. The character was very close to who I am, and that relationship was very relatable.”
