Having been put into bat, Mandhana and Shefali Verma stitched together an impressive opening partnership of 115 runs in just 70 balls to give Team India a quick start. Verma departed for a brilliant innings of 55 runs in 38 balls, which included 10 boundaries.
Mandhana departed after a well-made 75 runs as she tried to score quick runs in the death overs. scored 20 runs in 9 balls to take India to a massive score of 209 runs at the end of 20 overs.
For Netherlands, Caroline de Lange was the best bowler, finishing her spell with two wickets for 32 runs, while Myrthe van den Raad chipped in with one wicket.
Earlier, after winning the toss, Babette de Leede was happy to bowl first. The Dutch skipper said that she would prefer to chase the total set by the in-form Indian team after their heroics against Pakistan in the last match.
“We will bowl first. I think we will get something out of the wicket and hopefully chase the target later on. Super excited for this opportunity. Playing against India is a dream coming true, a little bit nervous as well.” Babette de Leede said.
Meanwhile, admitted that her team will enjoy the challenge of batting first and putting a big score on the board. The skipper also confirmed one change, with Nandini Sharma replacing Arundhati Reddy in the starting XI.
“Great opportunity to bat first, and we want to challenge ourselves. The powerplay with bat and ball is something we are looking forward to. Sticking to your own plans and batting as deep as possible is the key on this wicket.” Harmanpreet Kaur said.
