Skoda Auto India reported total domestic sales of 5,760 units in May 2026, registering a decline of 14.5% compared to 6,740 units sold in May 2025. Sales also fell on a month-on-month basis, down 16.4% from 6,886 units recorded in April 2026. Despite the decline, Kylaq continued to be the brand’s best-selling model, accounting for nearly 60% of Skoda’s total sales during the month. Kushaq emerged as the standout performer in terms of year-on-year growth, more than doubling its volumes compared to the same period last year.
Skoda India Sales Breakup May 2026
Kylaq remained Skoda’s highest-selling model in May 2026 with sales of 3,443 units. The compact SUV contributed 59.8% of the brand’s overall volumes. However, Kylaq sales declined by 30.4% compared to 4,949 units sold in May 2025. On a month-on-month basis, volumes were down 15.8% from 4,089 units sold in April 2026. Even with the decline, Kylaq continues to play a crucial role in Skoda’s India strategy, accounting for nearly three out of every five vehicles sold by the brand.
Kushaq was the star performer for Skoda in May 2026. The midsize SUV recorded sales of 1,310 units, a substantial increase of 103.4% compared to 644 units sold in May 2025. The SUV accounted for 22.7% of Skoda’s total sales during the month. While Kushaq posted strong year-on-year growth, its volumes declined 29.2% compared to April 2026, when 1,851 units were sold.
Slavia sedan registered sales of 861 units in May 2026. This was slightly lower than the 937 units sold in May 2025, translating to a decline of 8.1%. On a month-on-month basis, however, Slavia posted a modest growth of 3.7%, improving from 830 units sold in April 2026. The sedan contributed nearly 15% of Skoda’s total sales during the month.
The flagship Kodiaq SUV recorded sales of 146 units in May 2026. While this represented a decline of 29.8% compared to 208 units sold in May last year, sales improved by 25.9% over April 2026 when 116 units were retailed. Skoda is getting ready to ,bookings open 22nd June.
VW India Sales Breakup May 2026
Volkswagen India reported total sales of 2,619 units in May 2026, down 8.0% compared to 2,848 units sold in May 2025. Sales were also lower by 7.4% compared to 2,828 units sold in April 2026. Newly launched Taigun continued as Volkswagen’s best-selling model with 1,281 units sold, registering a growth of 13.8% over May 2025. The SUV contributed nearly 49% of Volkswagen’s total sales.
Virtus followed closely with 1,238 units, although sedan sales declined by 27.5% year-on-year. Together, Taigun and Virtus accounted for over 96% of Volkswagen India’s total volumes. The recently launched Tayron contributed 51 units, while Tiguan recorded 49 units. Volkswagen Golf did not register any sales during the month.
Skoda-VW India Outlook
While both Skoda and Volkswagen reported lower overall volumes in May 2026 compared to last year, Kylaq and Taigun continued to anchor SUV sales for the two brands. Kushaq’s triple-digit growth was one of the key highlights for Skoda, while Taigun remained Volkswagen’s strongest performer. Going forward, the Skoda-VW Group will be looking to strengthen volumes through its SUV portfolio, while continuing to maintain a presence in the sedan segment with Slavia and Virtus.
