The Skoda Superb fan club in India is eagerly waiting for the sedan’s relaunch in the country. The anticipation began building when Skoda showcased the latest-generation Superb at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Show, alongside the Octavia RS and Kylaq. And it went up a notch when a Superb with a ‘4×4’ badge was spotted testing on Indian roads. The Superb might have even launched by now, but Skoda had its hands full with other crucial launches like the Kylaq and the limited-run Kodiaq RS.

But this time around, even diesel enthusiasts can likely rejoice soon, as the Superb is likely to make a comeback with the diesel TDI powertrain. This might sound a bit strange in the BS6 era, but Skoda is reportedly considering bringing back the diesel version of its flagship sedan. This seems feasible because in its home market, the Superb is available as a 4×4 with both TSI and TDI engine options. So, the above-mentioned test mule could be a diesel.
Now, even though we are in the latter half of 2026, Skoda India has yet to announce a confirmed launch date for the Superb. But what seems definitive is that it will once again be launched as a Completely Built-Up (CBU) model and not a Completely Knocked-Down (CKD) version. Now, before the disappointment kicks in, it is worth knowing that low sales volume is not the only reason driving this decision. In fact, the main reason for launching the Superb as a CBU is the shifting of its production to Bratislava, Slovakia. Apparently, the region does not have a facility to build CKD kits for the sedan.
So, this brings us to the new Superb’s price. When it was available, the 2024 CBU model cost about Rs 68 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). With the India-EU Fair Trade Agreement (FTA) in effect, which has reduced the import duty levied on CBU models originating in the EU, expect the new Superb diesel’s price to be in the Rs 65–70 lakh range (on-road, Mumbai), which is not a large price difference.
