Since it blew up in mainstream media – and every other medicine cabinet – GLP-1 drugs have appeared…fishy at best. What seems like a miracle worker on the surface reportedly has several debilitating side effects, not even put through in fine print.
As far as visible results go, drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy provide delightful shifts on the scale. At what cost, is a whole another debate with swirling concerns surrounding long-term impact, accessibility and the bourgeoning normalisation of the concept of weight loss drugs.
Given the context, trying out an all-natural detox soup, dubbed ‘Nature’s Ozempic’, doesn’t sound like a bad gamble. This recipe comes from health and wellness creator Benji Xavier, who went on a 100 lb (that’s 45 kgs) weight loss journey – and he swears by it. Sharing the same, he writes, “This high-protein, gut-loving soup is everything you need for a light, nourishing meal that keeps you full and satisfied. Healthy, flavorful, and easy to make,” adding, “This soup is perfect for resetting, staying full, and keeping your meals clean and flavorful.”
Ingredients
- 1 head of cabbage, chopped
- 1/2 large white onion, diced
- `400 gms tomatoes, diced
- 3 carrots, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 2 celery stalks, sliced
- 950 ml chicken broth
- 2 tsps chicken powder (optional)
- 2 tsps garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp turmeric powder
- 1 tsp thyme
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 medium chicken breasts, sliced
Method
- In a heavy-bottomed pan, add a drizzle of olive oil and go in with the onions, bell peppers, carrots, tomatoes and celery.
- Sweat the vegetables for a bit to release flavour before going in with the chicken broth.
- Then go in with 4 cups of water and all the listed seasonings. Give it a good stir and cover for about 10 minutes or till it reaches a boil.
- Next add the chicken breast dices and cook covered for about 15 minutes.
