The scientific name of bottle gourd is Lagenaria siceraria and it is a member of the Cucurbitaceae family, i.e. the same family in which plants like cucumber, melon and ridge gourd come. Bottle gourd contains a lot of water. Minerals like Vitamin C, B, Calcium, Magnesium and Iron are found in it. It is considered beneficial for weight loss, digestion and hydration.
Why can bottle gourd juice be harmful?

Peel the bottle gourd and cut it into small pieces. Add oil in pan, fry cumin, onion and green chilli. Add turmeric, salt and red chilli and mix bottle gourd. Cover and cook on low flame until it becomes soft. You can also add tomatoes to it to enhance the taste. Add coriander leaves and serve it. You can eat it with roti and rice.
Bottle Gourd Kofta Curry
Grate bottle gourd and squeeze out the water. Make small koftas by adding gram flour, salt and light spices. Fry them golden and add them to tomato-onion gravy and cook for 10 minutes. Bottle gourd kofta curry tastes very tasty with rice.
