In 1971, Ravindra Kishore Sinha started working in Bihar’s first English newspaper Searchlight. During this, he also covered the war of 1971. The discipline and dedication of the soldiers gave him deep inspiration. At the same time, he got a business idea in his mind, giving employment to retired soldiers and laying a strong foundation of security in society.
Start with 250 rupees
In the year 1974, he started his company in Patna with just Rs 250. In the initial stages, he hired 14 retired soldiers at a salary of Rs 400 per month. This small steps gradually led to major changes.

By 1991, more than 1000 employees started working in the company. By 2002, the company earned a revenue of over Rs 25 crore. In 2008, Ravindra Kishore Sinha made international move and started his business in Australia. As of 2015, more than 1 lakh employees were working in SIS, and in 2017 it became India’s first private security company to listed on the National Stock Exchange (NSE).
Empire of 36,000 employees
Today SIS has more than 36,000 employees and 3,000 corporate customers. The company’s turnover is more than Rs 8,000 crore. Australia has the highest revenue and according to Forbes, Ravindra Kishore Sinha has a current net worth of more than Rs 8300 crore.
Success in politics too
Not only business, Ravindra Kishore Sinha is also active in politics. He became a Rajya Sabha MP in 2014. Journalism, business and politics, he made his identity in all three areas and illuminated the name of Bihar.
