Election Commission has extended SIR date for 6 states, but West Bengal did not get any extension. The six states include Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat and Andaman and Nicobar. The time for voter list correction has been extended.
SIR Date Extended: Amidst the political uproar regarding Special Intensive Revision (SIR), the Election Commission has issued a big update today on Thursday. The date of this ongoing campaign to clean and update the voter list has been extended for 6 states, however, no extension has been given to West Bengal this time. According to the Commission, the states where the period of SIR has been extended include Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Andaman-Nicobar. This step has been taken to remove mistakes from the voter list, add new entries and remove duplicate names.
