This is how the list will be updated under SIR
Let us tell you that the press conference will be addressed by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, Election Commissioner Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi. In the first phase, SIR may be announced in about 10 to 15 states, in which assembly elections are to be held in the next 2-3 years. The voter list will be updated under Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Names of dead voters will be removed from the voter list. Names of new voters will be added after registration. The names of voters who have been shifted or transferred will also be removed from the voter list and updated, so that the voter list becomes pure and reliable by the time the elections are held. For this, Booth Level Officer (BLO) will conduct door-to-door surveys. Will verify all the information included in the voter list like names, EPIC numbers, addresses, mobile numbers etc. Will collect data of new voters and get them registered. Also, voter cards will be issued to new voters. In this way the final voter list will be prepared.
