Singapore Boarding Rules: Singapore has implemented a new no boarding rule, in which passengers will be screened before the flight. Boarding may be stopped due to incorrect documents, absence of visa or SG Arrival Card. Know the new rules and what precautions to take before travelling.
Singapore Travel Rules 2026: If you are planning to visit Singapore in 2026, then know these important updates before packing. Singapore has implemented a new “No Boarding Directive” for international passengers, under which passengers will now be screened not just after reaching Singapore, but before boarding the flight. This rule has come into effect from January 30 and its aim is to allow only eligible travelers to enter the country. In such a situation, Indian passengers need to be more careful than before, because even a small mistake can stop boarding.
What is Singapore’s new no boarding rule?
The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore (ICA) has implemented a pre-departure verification system for all international flights arriving at Changi and Seletar Airport. Under this, the information of passengers will be checked before flight manifest and SG Arrival Card. If any passenger’s entry is found ineligible, a “No Boarding” instruction will be immediately sent to the airline and the passenger will not be allowed to board the aircraft.
Which passengers can be barred from boarding the flight?
Passengers who do not have a valid Singapore visa, have a passport valid for less than 6 months, have not submitted an SG Arrival Card or have provided false information, or have a negative immigration or security record—may be prevented from boarding. Airline staff may also conduct additional verification of documents at the time of check-in.

What was the rule earlier and what has changed now?
Earlier such passengers were stopped at the immigration counter after reaching Singapore. But now the investigation process will already be completed. This will help the Singapore government strengthen security controls and also prevent airlines from bringing in unauthorized passengers. Airlines can be fined up to Singapore Dollar 10,000 for violating the rule.
What to do if you are stopped from boarding?
Denial of boarding does not mean that you are barred from traveling to Singapore forever. Travelers can contact ICA through its official feedback channel and apply for entry clearance. Therefore, before traveling, definitely check the correct information of passport, visa, ticket and SG Arrival Card so that there is no problem at the airport.
