Some in the army, majority in state services
Under the Agniveer scheme, after four years of service, about 25 percent of the soldiers will be made permanent in the army, while about 75 percent of the Agniveers will come out after retirement. Since these soldiers have received special training in discipline, security, fitness and handling emergency situations while in the army, the state governments want to utilize their capabilities in administrative and security related departments.
The Uttar Pradesh government believes that the deployment of Agniveer will not only provide trained and disciplined human resources to the departments, but will also bring positive change in the work culture.
