Actor Siddharth Bodke has shared his experience of stepping into the role of late Sahara Group founder Subrata Roy for Hansal Mehta’s upcoming series ‘Scam 2010’.
Bodke described it as one of the most challenging and special experiences of his career, highlighting his interest in understanding the person behind the public persona.
“Playing Subrata Roy in ‘Scam 2010’ has been truly challenging and special. My main interest was to explore the man behind the image. We all know his larger-than-life public presence, but I wanted to understand his true self, his motivations, and the reasons behind his decisions,” Bodke stated. He added that living with the character taught him a lot, both as an actor and as an individual. He also praised working with Hansal Mehta as an incredible learning and enjoyable experience, acknowledging the significant responsibility of carrying forward the ‘Scam’ legacy.
Sony LIV recently unveiled the first look of ‘Scam 2010’, the third installment in its popular ‘Scam’ franchise, backed by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment. Directed by Hansal Mehta, the series is expected to premiere in January 2027. ‘Scam 2010’ delves into the life and controversial business journey of Subrata Roy, who founded the Sahara India Pariwar conglomerate in 1978. The series is based on journalist Tamal Bandyopadhyay’s book ‘Sahara: The Untold Story’ and examines the rise and subsequent legal challenges faced by one of India’s largest business empires. Roy faced scrutiny from SEBI for fundraising through Sahara’s financial schemes and was arrested in 2014 for contempt of court, passing away in November 2023. This series marks Hansal Mehta’s return after the success of ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’, which established Pratik Gandhi as a formidable actor.
