Siddharth Anand TROLLED For ‘Oops’ Comment On Telugu Flop Films Post; Netizens Hit Back ‘Remember Fighter?’

Director Siddharth Anand has found himself on the receiving end of criticism from Telugu film fans after his now-deleted ‘Oops’ comment on an X post went viral. The original post listed several recent Telugu releases featuring major stars, including NTR Jr, Pawan Kalyan, Vijay Deverakonda, Ram Charan, Prabhas, Mahesh Babu and Nandamuri Balakrishna, and labelled them ‘flop’. Siddharth’s one-word response appeared to mock the films’ box-office performances, prompting fans to hit back. Several users pointed out that films such as Kalki 2898 AD and Devara had performed strongly, while others reminded the Fighter director of his own film’s underwhelming theatrical run and criticised his remarks.

Netizens slam Siddharth Anand

‘s comment did not go down well with netizens, who accused him of unnecessarily taking a dig at the industry. Many users pointed out that Telugu cinema has also delivered several major successes in recent years.

One social media user hit back, “Says the director who blamed audience for the flop of Fighter.” The user also mentioned Kalki 2898 AD and Devara while challenging Siddharth over his remark. Another user took aim at the filmmaker’s work, writing, “You can’t even make a film without copying Hollywood why you are involving this kind of tweets bro.” The user then challenged him to make a film according to his “own standards” before commenting on other movies. The backlash also brought Fighter back into the conversation. Starring Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, the 2024 aerial action film was directed by Siddharth Anand but had an underwhelming theatrical run compared with expectations. Siddharth had previously spoken about the film’s performance and suggested that its subject matter may not have connected with a section of the Indian audience. His comments had themselves generated debate at the time.

Now, netiznes are using those remarks to question the director’s decision to react to another industry’s box-office struggles. Some also pointed out that calling an entire set of films ‘flops’ oversimplifies their individual theatrical performances.

Meanwhile, Siddharth Anand’s immediate upcoming directorial project is the high-profile action thriller  , starring Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, which is scheduled for release on December 24, 2026.
