Bengaluru police are yet to identify the people behind the alleged sting operation involving a viral video targeting former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
With the investigation yet to yield a major breakthrough, the cybercrime wing has turned to technical analysis and sought information from YouTube to trace the video’s origin.
Investigators are trying to establish whether the video is genuine or has been altered. They are also looking into who created it, how it reached social media and what prompted its circulation.
The police have sought details from YouTube in an effort to trace the digital trail and identify those who may have uploaded or circulated the footage.
Despite questioning more than 21 people in less than four days after registering an FIR on Monday, investigators have not yet found a concrete lead to the main accused.
The probe is also examining whether others were involved in planning or executing the alleged sting operation. However, the identities of those responsible and the possible motive behind the video remain unclear.
Police are continuing to follow multiple leads and analyse the available digital evidence as they try to piece together how the video was made and circulated.
