According to religious belief, this is the place from where the head of Barbarik i.e. Baba Shyam had appeared during the Mahabharata period. Devotees take bath in this pond and worship Khatu ji. There is a mythological belief that by taking bath in this Shyam Kund, the devotees get virtue, get freedom from sins and get the happiness of children.

How did the glass appear?

According to mythological belief, Shyam Kund was earlier an ancient farm where a cow used to come daily to give its milk. When people started digging it, they found Barbarik’s head 30 feet below. Since then, bathing in this pond has been considered very virtuous.
