India are all set to usher into a new era in their cricket, as Shubman Gill was recently announced as the captain of ODIs, replacing Rohit Sharma, even though the latter will return to play after 7 months in the series against Australia.
Virat Kohli, too, will make his return to the national team in this series which begins on October 19. However, there have been reports stating that Rohit and Kohli’s further selections in the ODI side will be dependent on their performances, as the two now only play in one format. This even makes their participation in the ODI World Cup 2027 under question. However, the new captain has somewhat revealed the plans for the superstar duo for the big tournament.
In the pre-match press conference before the India vs West Indies second Test match, Shubman Gill said that the experience that the duo of Rohit and Virat possess will really be valuable for India and they are definitely in the mix for the ODI World Cup 2027 in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
