Actress Shriya Saran unveiled Minar Fortified Wheat Flour in Hyderabad, a product by Sree Sai Roller Flour Mills and TechnoServe. She highlighted its nutritional value for families, calling it a great inclusion for a balanced diet.
In a significant step toward improving public health and nutritional, the international non-profit organization TechnoServe hosted the brand launch of Minar Fortified Wheat Flour, produced by Sree Sai Roller Flour Mills Pvt. Ltd on Thursday. Actress Shriya Saran unveiledthe product at the event.
Shriya Saran on Family Nutrition
While speaking to ANI, Shriya Saran expressed happiness about being associated with the brand launch of Minar Fortified Wheat flour highlighting its nutritional value. She reflected on how women constantly strive to provide balanced and complete nutrition for their families, while also nurturing others throughout different stages of life. “I’m very very happy to be associated with it, like clearly it is fortified atta. I think most of the women we struggle through how to give you know enough nutrients and how to make children’s food healthy. More than healthy, I think how to give everything that they need, complete nutrition, a balanced diet and then I think as a woman somehow very without you understanding or knowing from a daughter you become a mother to a daughter-in-law to somebody to a mother-in-law or a grandmother you it’s and you forever are taking care of somebody or the other and like that’s a beautiful journey that we go through. So it’s a great inclusion in anybody’s diet,” said Shriya Sharan.
‘Millers for Nutrition’ Initiative
The Country Manager for Millers for Nutrition in India Abhishek Shukla said “This program we are running in eight countries across Asia and Africa. So in Asia, we are working in India, Bangladesh, Indonesia, and Pakistan. In Africa, we are working in Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, and Nigeria,” as per the press note.
He continued, “We are promoting fortified staples in open market with a coalition and initiative called Millers for Nutrition. Right now, we have around 800-plus millers across these countries, and we are working in three staples: edible oil, wheat flour, and rice and we are promoting fortified rice, fortified wheat flour in open market.”
Collaboration to Combat Malnutrition
Abhishek Shukla explained their collaboration with Sri Sai Roller Flour Mill to launch “Milan,” a fortified wheat flour brand that is enriched with five micronutrients. “We have worked with Sri Sai Roller Flour Mill to launch, five micronutrient fortified wheat flour brand name Milan. So basically, we are providing testing, assistance, we are also providing technical tailor assistance as well, so they can produce this fortified wheat flour in a proper way and as per the FSSAI requirement to combat malnutrition. So this is about all our program,” said Shukla as quoted in a press note.
He further added that the initiative also involves on-ground support to millers and partnerships with fortification experts to ensure the flour is properly formulated and delivers the right nutrition to consumers. (ANI)
