India captain Shreyas Iyer has moved up two places to seventh in the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings following his half-century against New Zealand in Hamilton, while Australia fast bowler Mitchell Starc has reclaimed the top position in the Test bowling rankings.
The latest ICC Player Rankings update also sees India fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah move up to joint-30th in the ODI bowling rankings alongside Namibia’s JJ Smit. India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja continues to hold second place in the Test all-rounders’ rankings, behind South Africa’s Marco Jansen.
Starc’s return to the top of the Test bowling rankings and the strong gains made by South African players in the Test lists headline the latest update, which also features notable movements across the ODI and T20I formats.
Shreyas Iyer Moves Up In T20I Rankings
Iyer has gained two places to reach seventh in the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings after scoring 50 against New Zealand in Hamilton.
New Zealand’s Glenn Phillips has advanced 13 places to 24th, while Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza has climbed 12 places to 41st.
Afghanistan all-rounder Azmatullah Omarzai has also made progress, moving up 34 places to 59th after scoring 116 against Zimbabwe in Sharjah.
In the T20I bowling rankings, New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy has climbed 23 places to 23rd following his four-wicket haul in Auckland.
Mitchell Starc Reclaims No. 1 Spot In Test Bowling Rankings
Australia’s Mitchell Starc has returned to the top of the ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings after an impressive performance in the third Test of the World Test Championship series against South Africa in Cape Town.
Despite Australia losing the match by 176 runs and the series 2-1, Starc delivered a strong individual performance, claiming six wickets for 72 runs in the first innings and three for 65 in the second.
His nine-wicket match haul helped him displace South Africa all-rounder Marco Jansen, who had become the No. 1 Test bowler only a week earlier.
South Africa’s Simon Harmer also made significant gains after being named Player of the Match for his maiden 10-wicket haul in Test cricket. The off-spinner climbed nine places to seventh in the bowling rankings.
Harmer’s performance also lifted him three places to fifth in the Test all-rounders’ rankings, joining Jansen and Wiaan Mulder in the top five. India’s Jadeja is second, while Bangladesh’s Mehidy Hasan occupies fourth place.
South Africa Players Make Gains In Test Rankings
South Africa have three players in the top five of the ICC Men’s Test all-rounders’ rankings.
Jansen remains at the top, with Jadeja in second place and Mulder ranked third. Mehidy Hasan and Harmer complete the top five.
In the Test batting rankings, Mulder has moved up seven places to a career-best 17th position after scoring 115 in the second innings against Australia. Ryan Rickelton has climbed 25 places to 23rd after scoring a century, while Marcques Ackerman has made a significant jump of 129 places to 69th.
Bangladesh batter Shadman Islam has also progressed, moving from 67th to 63rd.
Fakhar Zaman, Ben Duckett Make Gains In ODI Rankings
Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman has moved up nine places to 37th in the ICC Men’s ODI batting rankings following his match-winning 127 in the final of the Pakistan ODI Tri-Series against Sri Lanka in Lahore.
Sri Lanka’s Pavan Rathnayake has made a major jump of 20 places to 16th after scoring 77 in the final, following his earlier century against England.
England’s Ben Duckett has reached a career-best sixth position after scoring 167 off 132 balls against Sri Lanka. Tom Banton has also entered the top 50 for the first time following consistent performances.
In the ODI bowling rankings, Namibia’s JJ Smit has climbed 44 places to joint-30th alongside India’s Bumrah after taking four wickets in each of his last two matches against Ireland.
The latest rankings update reflects strong performances across formats, with Iyer making progress in T20Is, Starc returning to the summit of Test bowling and several South African players gaining ground in the Test lists.
