Shreyanka Patil Suffers Freak Foot Injury, Stretchered Off The Field During Netherlands Fixture

India suffered an early injury scare in their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign as Shreyanka Patil was stretchered off the field with a suspected ankle injury.

The star bowler rolled her ankle while fielding during India’s clash against the Netherlands at Headingley on Wednesday.

The incident occurred in the sixth over of the Netherlands’ chase, when Patil attempted to stop the ball near mid-on off her own bowling. In the process, she twisted her ankle and was visibly in pain.

Clutching her right ankle, Patil was unable to put any weight on it. After receiving medical attention on the field, her ankle was strapped before she was stretchered off.

It remains to be seen how serious the injury is and whether she will be available for the remainder of the tournament in England.
