The film ‘Sholay’, released in 1975, has been re-released as ‘Sholay: The Final Cut’. This action adventure film, which released in theaters on December 12, has gained momentum at the box office despite a slow start. On the second day, this film took a big jump at the box office. The jump in its earnings compared to the first day is more than 60 percent. The special thing is that this film got only around 1000 screens. Still, the film’s earning figures are proving that even after 50 years, the same craze for this film remains intact among the audience.
How much did ‘Sholay: The Final Cut’ earn on the second day?
According to the report of trade tracking website sacnilk.com, ‘Sholay: The Final Cut’ earned about Rs 50 lakh on the second day after re-release, which is about 66 percent more than the first day. The film had earned approximately Rs 30 lakh on the first day. The total collection of this film in two days has reached Rs 80 lakh. If we compare this film with its original release in 1975, it is far ahead in re-release. However, it cannot be ignored that there is a huge difference between the ticket price of 50 years ago and the ticket price of today.

How much did ‘Sholay’ earn in two days in 1975?
In 1975, the first day collection of ‘Sholay’ was around Rs 8 lakh, while on the second day it fell to Rs 7 lakh. At that time the film had earned Rs 15 lakh in two days. From the third day onwards, bumper growth was seen in its earning figures and its first weekend collection was Rs 25 lakh and first week collection was Rs 69 lakh. Directed by Ramesh Sippy, this film was made for Rs 3 crore at that time, while it had a lifetime business of Rs 15 crore in India and a worldwide gross of Rs 50 crore. Artists like Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Hema Malini, Sanjeev Kumar, Amjad Khan and Jaya Bachchan played important roles in the film.
