Shoes and slippers and clothes up to Rs 2,500 will be cheaper, GST can be a big announcement

Footwear and clothes can also be cheap in GST improvement 2025. The GST Council has decided to keep footwear and costumes worth up to Rs 2,500 in a slab of 5 percent GST on Wednesday. Till now, shoes and slippers and clothes worth up to just Rs 1,000 used to be given GST at the rate of five percent, while products worth more than this were imposed 12 percent tax.

After this decision taken in the GST Council, the supreme body, which takes decisions in matters related to the Goods and Services Tax (GST), will now become cheap up to Rs 2,500. However, its official announcement will be made on Thursday by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. Finance ministers of states and union territories also participated in the 56th meeting of GST Council chaired by the Finance Minister.

Direct relief of consumers

According to sources, it has also been decided to abolish 12 and 28 percent tax slab in the meeting. Most of these products of these two categories will be transferred to slabs of five and 18 percent respectively. With this step, consumers are expected to get encouragement with direct relief and footwear industry.
