There was a huge uproar in Kozhikode, Kerala over the offer of selling shoes for Rs 1. The crowd outside the shop went out of control, resulting in a stampede-like situation. The police had to lathi charge and the shop owners were taken into custody.

Kozhikode: The promise of giving shoes for just one rupee proved costly for a shop. Due to this offer in Kozhikode, Kerala, there was a huge uproar outside the shop. Knowing about the advertisement, people started gathering outside the shop early in the morning, due to which a stampede-like situation was created and scuffles started. The police had to resort to lathicharge to control the situation. After this uproar, the police have taken the shop owners into custody.

This offer was given by a shop named ‘Trend Factory’. The shop was already running, but today on the occasion of re-opening, the shop owner offered that whoever reaches the shop at the time of opening, he will be given shoes for one rupee. After this advertisement, especially young boys camped outside the shop from 3 am in the morning. Some boys told that they had seen the advertisement two days ago, but when they reached in the morning they came to know that the offer of shoes had ended. He complained that the shop had given the timing of 10 am but distributed the shoes early in the morning itself, which is wrong. This offer was for those who would bring one rupee note.

When the crowd was not ready to disperse, the police chased them away with batons. A board was also put up outside the shop that ‘the shop will not open today’. After this the angry crowd also raised slogans against the police. At present the police is removing the crowd from the spot.
