Thane: The husband who killed his wife by getting her bitten by a poisonous snake has been arrested by Mumbai’s Badlapur Police after a long investigation of about three years. The name of this 40 year old man is Rupesh. A woman named Neerja Rupesh Ambekar died on 10 July 2022 in Badlapur. Earlier this incident was said to be an accident. But the investigation, following contradictions in the statements of two eyewitnesses, revealed that it was a murder. After constant quarrels with his wife, Rupesh along with two of his friends planned to murder Neerja. He conspired to commit this murder with the help of his friends Hrishikesh Ramesh Chalke and Kunal Vishwanath Chaudhary. After purchasing a poisonous snake from Chetan Vijay Dudhane, a well-known snake charmer, he got Neerja bitten by it.
Drama of ‘natural death’ so that no one has any doubt
Police have also arrested Rupesh’s friends. Police say that further investigation is going on in the matter. Rupesh had told relatives that his wife died of brain hemorrhage. Pretending to massage her feet, he got Neerja bitten thrice by the snake kept in the pot. Neerja died on the spot due to the spread of poison. Rupesh was also successful in making this incident look like a brain hemorrhage.
No one even doubted this incident. But, in another case, Rupesh’s friend and conspirator of Neerja’s murder, Hrishikesh Ramesh Chalke, was caught. The reality of Neerja’s death came to light in the investigation based on some clues found during her interrogation. After this, FIR was registered in the case of Neerja’s murder.
