A person named Yashbir Singh surrendered at Laxmi Nagar police station at around 5 pm on Monday evening. During interrogation, he told that he had murdered his family members. Based on his statement, the police team reached the house in Subhash Chowk area, where the bodies of the three victims were found inside.

Accused Yashbir claimed that his father, who is a truck driver, was not living with the family for the last 6 months. During this time, the accused himself used to work as a driver, but he too had become unemployed for a few months.

Police further said that Yashbir claimed to have taken a term life insurance policy worth around ₹1.5 crore and had made several unsuccessful attempts to commit suicide in the last two months. He also alleged that his mother had quarreled with him a day earlier. However, the police is investigating his claims.

Accused Yashbir told that he made sweets from Dhatura seeds and fed them to his mother Kavita (46), sister Meghna (24) and brother Mukul (14). When they became unconscious, he killed them and later surrendered before the police.

Police said that the wife of the accused was not present at the time of the incident and her role is being investigated. Police said that FIR is being registered and investigation teams have been formed to confirm the incident.
