A 42-year-old man has been arrested from Surat. It is alleged that he killed his wife by pushing her in front of a train at Mulund station in Mumbai. This heart-wrenching incident happened in front of his son, after which GRP chased and caught the accused.

The Government Railway Police (GRP) has arrested a 42-year-old electrician named Raju Gupta from Surat. Raju is accused of killing his wife Pushpa by pushing her in front of a local train at Mulund station. The incident happened on Saturday and the couple’s 13-year-old son was also present there.

Pushpa had returned from UP to Mumbai

Police said that there were frequent fights between Raju and Pushpa. Pushpa had also filed non-cognizable (NC) complaints against Raju twice before. One complaint was made on February 13 and the other just a few days before this tragic incident. Fed up with the fights, Pushpa had gone to her maternal home in Uttar Pradesh with her 15-year-old elder son. But on March 14, she returned to Mumbai because her brother Kamlesh Kumar, who is an army man, was trying to bring about a reconciliation between the two.

Family dispute escalates at Mulund station

On the day of the incident, Pushpa, her brother Kamlesh and elder son had reached Mulund station to go to Kalwa. There Kamlesh came to know that his ATM and identity card were missing. They suspected that Raju had stolen them. After this, Kamlesh returned home with his nephew (Pushpa’s elder son), where he had an argument with Raju. According to GRP, Raju locked Kamlesh and his elder son in the house and left from there with his younger son.

Raju killed Pushpa due to her stubbornness

  • The neighbors pulled Kamlesh out, after which they informed the Mulund police about the matter. When the police called Raju, he switched off his phone and went straight to Mulund station. There he tried to convince Pushpa to stay. But when Pushpa remained adamant on getting a divorce, Raju allegedly pushed her in front of a local train headed towards Kalyan.
  • After this incident, Raju ran to Vangaon station with his younger son and boarded a train bound for Surat from there. GRP tracked him down and finally arrested him in Surat. This matter had shocked the passengers and local people present at the station.
