According to the Shiva Purana, Lord Shiva is pleased by offering flowers on the Shivling and fulfills the wishes of the devotee. By offering different types of flowers on the Shivling, different fruits are provided such as Shami flowers are offered for happiness, prosperity, Bela flowers marital happiness, and Kaner flowers are offered for wealth.
